where do you draw the line between being judgmental and opinionated? earlier today someone made a comment to me saying "i could do better". not only did it hurt my feelings, but i also got a little angry. i understand that that statement could come off as being judgmental but at the same time that was her honest opinion. a majority of the time i don't let comments like that bother me, but in this case i was so offended because she doesn't even know him. plus i realize that this is coming from a woman who expects her man to call her how many times a day, be constantly all over her whenever they see each other, be invited to every single outing, plus full weekend and mid-week quality time together. i remember having this talk with a friend of mine about a year ago because i said the same thing to him. in response he said that no matter how people may believe a certain person is right or wrong for him, only he decides because he's living in the relationship and only he knows what's best for him in terms of happiness. everyone can do better. there's always someone better out there, but why search for them when you have something good right in front of your face. ugh. i think too much.
over the years i've realized that i may never be in agreement with my friends' boyfriends/girlfriends. maybe i just have high expectations for them and i want them to have the best of everything. i've come to accept the fact that whoever they are with is who they think is best for them. why can't she see that about me? i'm so bothered right now.

I WON 10 BUCKS!!! okay, so it may not seem like a lot of dough, but c'mon, 10 bucks! this whole raider riot attitude was starting to bug so i bet jesse $10 that tampa bay would win. i should have kept the wager at $40. anyway, imagine the joy i felt knowing they sucked ass at that game. let the gloating begin...
dang, has it been that long since i wrote. well, this is an extremely late thank you to those who came to celebrate my bday with me at the firecrizzacker! we gotta do that again.
this wednesday i'll be heading over to the house of blues to catch a show featuring rhian benson. she's some chick my classmate's been producing with and i heard she's pretty hot. raphael saadiq will be headlining so if anyone wants to join me hit me up. i think admission is $20 and the show starts at 7:30.

okay. since everyone is sharing their horror date from hell story, i thought i'd enlighten you with mine. most of you have heard it many a times, but shit. it still makes me laugh.
to save him embarassment by mentioning his name, i will refer to him as "little man".
first of all, the way he asked me out was just pitiful. jen convinced me to go to a bar with her so she could meet this guy she had a crush on. mind you i was the only one available to go with her that night and i still had flu-like symptoms that were killing me. so i threw on some black pants and a sweater and walked out the door with nothing but mucus stored in my throat.
judging by the looks of the birthday boy's friends, i knew immediately they were pathetic losers. the whole night little man kept following me and kept asking me stupid questions right up in my face and didn't realize that he was spitting every time he opened his mouth. at the end of the night he walked us to our car and out of NOWHERE asks for my number. "um. what the hell is your name anyway?" he soooooo was not smooth. don't ask me why i gave it, but i agreed to go out with him to see if he could redeem himself. who knows. maybe he was just having a bad night.
he picks me up in his little man's del sol and keeps the back window open thinking he looks cool. so not working. meanwhile we're driving around and he has nothing but shaggy blasting in his system. here i am trying to make conversation with him and he rudely interrupts me by saying "man! you messed up my flow!" and hits rewind on that damn "it wasn't me" song. no worries... it's only the beginning of the date.
he takes me to the media center and asks me what movie i wanna watch. as i'm reading the sign, he screams out "i wanna watch any given sunday. two for any given sunday." um. so much for asking my opinion. i pulled out my wallet to pretend to pay and he insists "no i got this one. you can pay for the food." ugh!!! anyway the dumb ass asks if i'm hungry b/c he wants to go to in n out. i had just had lunch so i said i'd accompany him while he ate. he scarfs down his burger and when there are about 5 pieces of fries left, he offers "do you want some?" no, dick.
after the movie he drives me up to the griffith observatory. since i've never been there i was getting pretty excited. finally! something could go right on this date. wrong again. little man forgot the park closes at 10 pm and security forced us to leave just as we get there. then he asks "have you been to california plaza? they have live entertainment... yada yada yada... " that actually sounds like fun. so we drive over there and i swear i hear nothing but crickets. he insists we take a walk anyway through the plaza, but then the security guard tells us to go home. that's just lovely.
by this time we're both starving so he takes me to la luna on melrose. but first i tell him i have no more money and he's says "don't worry. i got ya." the waitress asks "do you want to sit inside or outside?" being that it's freezing outside i replied "inside". but nooooooooooooo... he insists outside b/c there are heat lamps. we end up sitting under the only heat lamp available... which happens to be broken! so i'm sitting there freezing my ass off and then it starts to drizzle! when the bill comes i offer to give my measly $7 and little man had the nerve to take it!
i don't know if that night could have ever been worse. i'm forever scarred.

you know what... you may have a new respect for cheerleaders and all, but i still think they're dumb. ha ha! that doesn't necessarily mean they're not intelligent people. it just so happens that a lot of the friends i made in college were surprisingly high school cheerleaders, and man, i never would have thought it. i just think cheerleading alone has such negative connotations. funny thing is... i LOVE watching them perform. how crazy is that. personally i think they're making fools out of themselves b/c no one gets hype or "yay! school spirit!" from watching them. it's the uniform, the sluttiness, the choreography that gets attention. the day i actually get to owning a dvd player, bring it on is gonna be on the top of my wishlist.

i know i'm not politically active and i really don't give a shit about our government, but when stephan told me earlier that he might leave soon if we go to war with iraq i started to get teary-eyed. he's always told me to be more aware about what's going on with our country and that one day i would finally learn when someone close to me is affected. i never thought it would be him.
anyway, on a lighter note... i bought the new floetry cd today and i have to admit it's pretty chill. just a little something to listen to when i'm by myself.

i don't know who started the moshing last night, but it knocked my aunts to the floor. meanwhile my cousins were in the back yard smoking out, 3/4 of the family was drunk, someone spilled champagne on my arm and my cousin's hair, i got pushed onto a chair with beer all over seat (wet ass isn't the most comfortable feeling when it's cold), and i found myself hugging and kissing people i didn't even know. who were the those people anyway? after a long night of debauchery and karaoke with my future brother-in-law, i finally passed out on one of the couches. luckily no one drew on my face and thank god i don't have a hangover. so much for universal studios today since a majority of my cousins are feeling nauseous.
happy new year everyone and here's to new beginnings...
